01Scope
This policy applies to the iPhone features and services provided by HowLong (the “App”). The App is operated by an independent developer; “we” means the App’s developer.
When you choose to use the App Store, iCloud, email, or another third-party service, that service processes information under its own privacy policy.
02Information we process
List contentItem text, creation date, completion date, and status, used to display lists, count elapsed days, and manage completed items.
App settingsLanguage, appearance, icon, reminders, badge, feedback, and iCloud preferences stored on your device.
Membership statusProduct information and Apple-verified entitlements received through StoreKit for purchase, unlock, and restore.
Notification statusWith your permission, iOS schedules reminders and manages the to-do badge on the device.
Contact informationOnly when you email us, your address, message, and attachments you choose to add are processed by email services.
The App never automatically attaches your lists to email and does not access contacts, photos, precise location, health data, camera, or microphone.
03Storage and optional iCloud sync
On-device storage
Lists are stored on your device using Apple SwiftData by default. Except for Apple services you choose to enable, list content is not uploaded to a developer-operated server.
Optional iCloud sync
Lifetime members may choose to enable iCloud sync in Settings. When enabled, Apple CloudKit stores list data in a private database linked to your Apple Account so supported Apple devices can stay in sync. Sync is off by default.
Apple provides iCloud availability, storage location, and security according to your account region, system settings, and Apple terms.
04Lifetime membership
Apple’s App Store and StoreKit process the lifetime purchase. The App receives product details, verified transaction results, and current entitlements only as needed to purchase, unlock features, and restore purchases.
Apple processes payment card, bank account, and other payment credentials. We cannot access them.
05Permissions and network access
- Notifications: Used for reminders, sounds, and the to-do badge you enable. You can disable them in iOS Settings at any time.
- iCloud: Used only when a member enables sync and a compatible account is available.
- Network: Used for App Store product and entitlement status, optional iCloud sync, and external pages or email services you open.
Declining optional permissions does not affect basic list features, but the related reminder, purchase, or sync feature may be unavailable.
06Sharing, tracking, and security
We do not sell personal information, share it with data brokers or ad networks for advertising or profiling, or integrate advertising, behavioral analytics, or cross-app tracking SDKs.
Apple may process information as needed to provide the App Store, StoreKit, iCloud, and CloudKit. External services you open process information under their own policies.
We favor Apple system frameworks to reduce unnecessary data transfer. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so protect your device passcode and Apple Account.
07Retention, deletion, and your choices
- On-device lists remain until you delete them in the App or remove the App and its data.
- While sync is enabled, changes are synchronized through CloudKit. Turning sync off alone does not delete data previously stored in iCloud.
- Apple manages purchase records under its policies and applicable law.
- Support emails are retained only as needed to resolve the issue and meet necessary obligations.
You can view, edit, complete, or delete items; enable or disable reminders and iCloud sync; and use the button below to make a privacy request.
08Children and policy changes
The App is a general productivity tool and is not designed specifically for children. Minors should use it with guidance from a parent or guardian.
We may update this policy when features, data practices, or applicable rules change. The date above shows the latest revision.
